The Connection of Two
Ruslana Purpur.moon
The design for this piece was created for the “People Paint” initiative by Kazakhstani illustrator Ruslana Purpur.moon, brought to life with the help of mobile network operator MOTIV and virtually the entire city of Yekaterinburg. Ruslana views human relationships as the most important, complex, and fascinating part of life. Reflecting this philosophy, sixteen distinct scenes appeared across the 50-metre fence, exploring friendship, tenderness, sisterhood, confrontation, unity, relationships between unequals, and relationships of opposites.

While creating the artwork, Ruslana drew inspiration from her own life and surroundings: “I based the dark-haired girl directly on myself: in one scene I’m dancing with my partner, in another I’m supporting my sister.” What matters most to the artist is that people connect with her work: that they recognise themselves in its fragments, relive moments, and reflect on their own roles in relationships with others.
